I don't mind quick photo stops either for waterfalls, views etc but must be only a short walk maybe 5 minutes max from where car is parked (no hiking). Might need to end up a balance between driving part on Interstate and part on scenic roads, so happy for you experts to throw up lots of options and please let me know if you have driven these routes or whether it's something you have just heard about. Maybe add 1-2 hours maximum to overall journey. I'd also like to get some scenic options instead of driving on motorways all day as long as it does not add too much time to the journey. Also love looking around the odd souvenir shop looking for novelty licence plates which I collect and other things. ![]() We like truly American things as we are Aussies looking to discover real America. To give you some perspective we would enjoy having say 2 to 3 stops along the way for morning tea / lunch / afternoon tea going to places like quirky diners, pretty towns and the like that are well known to the locals for great coffee/ milk shakes / key lime pie / lemon meringue pie / burgers or any other food treats. I am not looking to necessarily take the fastest route, but I am looking for ideas on any points of interest or scenic aspects that I should consider seeing or stopping at on the route.
